Shelburne Museum

Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont is one of North America's finest, most diverse and unconventional museums of art, design and Americana. Over 150,000 works are exhibited in 39 exhibition buildings, 25 of which are historic and were relocated to the museum grounds. The museums collection includes great Impressionist and American painters along with a renowned folk art collection that includes quilts, trade signs and weathervanes.

  • Shelburne Museum Save America's Treasures Grant.mp4

    Shelburne Museum has been awarded a $600,000 Save America's Treasures grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The grant, which requires a one-to-one match, will be used to install a state-of-the-art fiber optic communications system connecting the museum's 39 exhibit buildings on the 45-acre grounds to improve security, enhance climate control for the museum's 150,000 artifacts and support educational programs.

  • Wampum Belts Reception at Shelburne Museum

    On July 10, 2009 Shelburne Museum hosted a reception to commemorate two Wampum Belts on loan from the Bishop of Chartres and the Musee des Beaux-Arts de Chartres. French Ambassador to the U.S. Pierre Vimont, Senator Patrick Leahy, Governor James Douglas, and former Penobscot nation chief, James Sappier speak about the belts, the Quadricentennial and the historical ties between the nations.
