  • Temporisation

Meditation on deadlines. time, existential student film-making. It's also kind of a coffee ad. This was my second student film- and my last project that I shot 16mm film. very much a self- portrait. Thanks to local artist Lyndsay Vezina, for playing the character.

  • twelve

twelve was originally, a 12 panel comic story. the story was simply 12 seperate moments- unconnected, but telling a bigger picture- like a simultaneous moment. Bringing this comic to a temporal based medium came from a desire to experiment with what i saw as a possible bridge between flat 2d sequential arts and motion mediums that essentially record real-life- like video/film. i like the jarring collision of the two- flat/moving, b&w/color- My choices for the video are based sometimes on the subject matter of the panels, but sometimes not. I used unused video i had shot for previous projects and found footage culled from internet. in the end, i make these pieces like i would approach a piece of fine art- without specific objectives - just letting creativity take its course.

  • heterogene

heterogeneous in picture, concept and sound. by flameape This, like a number of really short vids I've made, is more like a video sketch than anything. I just played around with randomly selected photos and some of my sketches and doodles- trying to let their combination come to me subconsciously. finally, the music i chose was also a song made of little pieces. for me, this piece is a meditation on how disconnected and "random" (overused word-arg) images, things, ideas come together and make our world on any given day, moment. Also- I'm always interested in how images can have their own narrative- non sequiturs, etc.; there can be a narrative experience even with seemingly disparate elements - once the artist chooses to force them together. The viewer makes the narrative- like a video Rorschach test. Anyway- best not to think- just watch and come up with your own idea- not mine. ;)
